Black and Gold
After perusing some of my favourite glossies it seemed that there was a distinctive theme running throughout all of these fashion mags as we approach Christmas time, two colours- black or gold.
From handbags to shoes to jewellery everything that is worth having this season is black, gold or a mix of the two. You only have to pick up a magazine and you will be inundated with images of black and gold accessories, so anybody that’s anybody will be sporting this very on trend look this season.
Handbags are a great way to achieve this look. They help create the look simply but can have a powerful impact. Try looking for a black bag with gold detail, such as buckles, zips, studs or straps and team it with the simplest of outfits to create that real wow factor. The great thing about buying a bag such as this is that although it is bang on trend this season you can continue to use it season after season and it will not look outdated. However, if you are only interested if carrying off this season’s look and are not worried about whether you can use the bag again next season then you could be a little more adventurous and opt for a gold bag with black detailing.
This theme can also be seen throughout many of the big jewellery designers’ collections as well. Much of the jewellery which supports this look is somewhat chunky but yet it manages to maintain its elegance without looking over the top. In fact if you are keen in investing in a piece of jewellery which follows this trend you should look for something which also incorporates pearl. In terms of jewellery pearls are added bonus for this look. The use of pearls reflects the ebony and ivory look which is finished off with a splash of gold. For those who prefer to keep it simple and like to exude elegance then a cocktail ring might be the way to go, but for those who like to stand out a bit more perhaps you should look for a bracelet or eye catching necklace. There are some real statement pieces of jewellery which can add a real sparkle to any outfit. If the right piece of jewellery is chosen it can make an ensemble appear much edgier.
The great thing about this look is that these accessories can be teamed with pretty much any outfit. In addition these accessories are extremely eye catching which means not too much effort is required when it comes to the outfit. Rather in order to get the full impact of these accessories it is better to keep the outfit simple, which means we can get an extra 10 minutes in bed instead of worrying about to wear in the morning. Not only this but there is something quite timeless about this particular look, meaning that even after this trend passes these accessories can generally still be worn season after season.
